clinic internship

While clinical interns will receive all of the necessary training to become a competent practicing physician during their time in the Boucher Naturopathic Medical Clinic and satellite locations, some may wish to increase the diversity of their clinic experience. To provide an opportunity to gain this extra experience, the CCNM-Boucher Campus has developed the Externship Program.

Externship

Refers to a period of time in which the intern is conducting a portion of their practical Clinical Training in an off-site location, external to the Boucher Clinic or another satellite location that is supervised by CCNM-Boucher Campus Faculty. Interns are expected to, and must treat patients in the same manner as at the Boucher Clinic, under the supervision of the ND who owns/operates the externship location. This includes conducting patient intakes, physical exams, and treatment. Students will be evaluated in the same manner as all other clinic rotations as will the supervising physician. An externship is optional, and acceptance to the Externship is subject to approval by the Dean of Clinical Studies.

Host

Refers to the supervising Naturopathic Physician at the Externship site.

Academic Standing:

Based on the CCNM-Boucher Campus Academic Standing Procedure, supported by evaluations by the faculty, and an acceptable progression to attaining graduation requirements as evaluated by the Dean’s Council.
