Our College mourns the loss of the 215 children whose remains were uncovered this week at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. This discovery serves as a painful, but necessary reminder of the injustices Indigenous peoples have faced in the history of this country; injustices that preserved the inequalities and discrimination that Indigenous peoples continue to face to this day. As the College is an institution dedicated to education and health, it is abhorrent to learn that the health and education of defenseless children could be so badly abused. The College is committed to improving the health of Canadians and we support the protection and support of those who are most vulnerable.
